Establishment of The Queensland University (UQ)

The Queensland University (UQ)

was founded in 1996 in Haiti as a Private Christian University of Public Services by Queensland University Foundation (FUQ), on Higher Education and Research in the Caribbean Region , Haiti . The Queensland University Foundation (FUQ), which was set up in 1995 to investigate Higher Education in the Rural and Urban Areas of Haiti, recommended among other things, the setting up of University Faculty in association with the Queensland Foundation (FQ). This was followed up by a number of separate Commissions in different regions of Haiti . The Queensland Foundation Commission was under the Chairmanship of the Very Reverend Jean-Claude Dorsainvil. The Queensland Foundation Commission published a majority report which recommended the establishment of the Queensland University (UQ) Faculty in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and a minority report which held that only one University Faculty of Agronomy and Environmental Sciences (FAES) of Queensland University (UQ) for the whole of Queensland Foundation( FQ) was feasible. The Small Board of Governance at first accepted the minority report of the Queensland University Foundation (QUF) and decided that a University Faculty for the whole of Queensland Foundation should be established at Delmas 19, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. But the haitian people of the Ouest Department could not accept this recommendation for the great openning of Queensland University (UQ) . The Netherlands Government by his Embassy in Jamaica accordingly reviewed its decision and agreed to the establishment and accepting to give a small financial support for the functionning of the Faculty of Agronomy and Environmental Sciences (FAES) of Queensland University (UQ) in Haiti.

In 1999, the Queensland University Foundation (FUQ) has openned a Theological Seminary called : Seminaire de Theologie Evangelique de la Grace (STEG) / Grace Evangelical Theological Seminary. We recived a Volunteer Canadian Missionary about STEG, Brother Richard Ouellette, he teachs Counseling and Communication in the STEG. And in 2003, The Board of Directors of Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), Washington, DC, United States of America , accepted Queensland University (UQ) as its First Affiliate Member Queensland University (UQ) in Haiti. The University Faculty benefitted greatly from this arrangement which certainly helped to maintain its high academic standards in Haiti with the arrival of the Canadian Missionary , Richard Ouellette. And International Association for the Promotion of Christian Higher Education (IAPCHE) , IA, United States of America , accepted Queensland University (UQ) as a Member.International Council for Higher Education (ICHE), Switzerland and India has accepted Queensland University (UQ) as a Member. Queensland University (UQ) and Grace Evangelical Theological Seminary (STEG) together created an Association of Christian Schools called : Haitian Association of Christian Schools of Higher Education (HACUAS) and after the quake on January 12, Grace Evangelical Theological Seminary (STEG) and other Haitian Biblical Schools created : Association of Theological Institutions of Haiti (ATIH) and a Ministry called : Grace Community Haiti Ministries (GCHM). And in 2003, the Haitian Government Ministry of Education send a Letter to the Office of Queensland University (UQ) notified for the reception of all Documents of Queensland University (UQ) for Recognition. And in 2005, The Haitian Government via Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cults has recognized the Seminaire de Theoologie Evangelique de la Grace (STEG) of Queensland University (UQ). The Queensland University (UQ) is recognized by the Haitian Government and we wait only a Licence of the Ministry of Education in Haiti.

Enrolment and Graduation Statistics about UQ Haiti

With a current student population of about 11. 575 (representing male/female ratio of about 1,12) the Queensland University (UQ)  is the first Christian University in Haiti. Breakdown in terms of programmes are as follows: Post-Graduate students; Bachelors Degrees; 2789 Sub-Degrees 150. International students currently enrolled and demand of admission  in the University are also 500. Senior Members engaged in research and teaching number 25. Senior Administrative and Professional staff also number 35.

The University has also established academic and research links with several Universities and Research Institutions worldwide. Queensland University (UQ) is the First Christian University in Haiti.

The campus of the University lies about 5 kilometres great north of Haiti, Hinche, Plateau Central , two hours of the Capital Port-au-Prince, Haiti, at an altitude of between 35 and 40 feet in the City of Hinche , Plateau Central, and in below Campus Delmas 19 and Delmas 31 and Queensland Language Institute (QLI) at Delmas 33.

The Faculty of Health Sciences has its administration as well as the Medical/ Dental/ Allied Health Sciences Schools located in the City of Hinche, Plateau Central, which is about three kilometres west of the centre of Plateau Central, and about 5 kilometres from the main University campus in the region of Cerca La Source, Plateau Central, Haiti .

Research Institutes

Centre de Recherche et d'Etudes Afro-Caraibeennes et Latinoamericaines (CREACLAC)

Established in 2003, it conducts fundamental research in areas of Afro-Caraibeen Languages, history and culture, and runs interdisciplinary courses leading to MPhil and PhD degrees in Afor-Caraibeens and Latinoamerican Studies. The Centre also organizes introductory courses in Spanish and English Studies for all Level 125 students in the undergraduate degree programme of the University. These courses, which cover two semesters, are compulsory. A pass in spanish Studies is required for the award of a bachelor degree of the University. Orientation courses are available for special admission students from other institutions and agencies. Interdisciplinary seminars and symposia are organized regularly. There is a Visual Arts Section with cultural exhibits for teaching and research. The Centre library supplements the American, European and African collection of the UQ Library. Attached to the Queensland Language Institute (QLI) is the Haitian, Caraibbean and Latino Dance Ensemble a resident professional dance company which was started in 2004 by the then Queensland Institute of Arts and Culture to link the Queensland University with the national theatre movement.

SCHOOL OF ADULT EDUCATION.

Established originally as the Department of Extra-Mural Studies and by the National Association for Adult Education in Haiti (ANEA Haiti) in 2003, the School provides university-based adult education through its branches and workers colleges throughout the Rural and Urban Areas of Haiti. It provides both formal and non-formal programmes. The formal programmes consist of Diploma, Graduate Diploma and Masters and Doctoral degree courses in Adult Education; external degree courses in the Humanities, and Management and Accounting, remedial courses for Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE). The non-formal programmes comprise community education programmes in health, family life education, nutrition, civic education, community initiative and adult literacy. The School is directly involved with the organisation of the National Association for Adult Education in Haiti (ANEA Haiti) to support its work. Public lectures, seminars and workshops form a vital part of the School activities. The most popular and national of these is the Annual New Year School which has been held regularly since 2004 when the School of Governance of Queensland University (UQ) began to function in Haiti .

INSTITUTE OF STATISTICAL, SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC RESEARCH/ Institut d'Etudes Sociales et de Developpement (IESD).

It was established in 1999 as the Institute of Statistics. In addition to its original concern with problems related to statistics in Haiti, the Institute has expanded into the field of social and economic studies in the Rural and Urban Areas of Haiti . The Institute offers Certificate and Diploma courses in Statistics as well as a Master of Arts degree in Development and Social Studies in Haiti .

QUEENSLAND INSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH (QIMR).

The Institute was established in 2005 in a building that will be funded by the Queensland Foundation (QF) to serve as a monument in the Region of Sapaterre, Hinche, Plateau Central, Haiti. The Institute provides a base for medical co-operation programmes between Haitian and International scientists of the world, and a centre for conducting medical research relevant to Haiti' s needs. Research is conducted into problems of communicable diseases while graduate students are trained in medical research. Facilities at the Institute include specialized laboratories and services in support of public programmes. From July 15, 2017, the Institute became one of the health-related institutions grouped under the newly established Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculte de Medecine et de Technologie Medicale (FMTM)..

RESEARCH CENTER FOR POPULATION STUDIES AND DEVELOPMENT (CREPDEV) CENTRE DE RECHERCHE ET D'ETUDES SUR LA POPULATION ET LE DEVELOPPEMENT (CREPDEV).

Established jointly in 2003 by the Queensland University (UQ) and CREACLAC, Member of ALOP, Mexico City, it promotes and strengthens research and training in demography for students from English and Frech -speaking countries in Haiti and in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) . The Centre offers MA, MPhil and PhD degree courses. The Centre organizes seminars, workshops, ad hoc courses of study and in-service training in Demography and related fields at the request of governments and privated institutions mainly in English and French-speaking countries in Haiti and in the Caribbean Community . Given its regional and international character, a significant number of the Institutes and schools students come from other haitian centers and institutes of UQ .

CULTURAL TRAINING CENTRE FOR ARCHIVISTS / CENTRE CULTUREL ET DES ARTS OF UQ.

Since 2005, the University has hosted the Centre within the Department of Library and Archival Studies and Cultural . It offers a sub-degree Diploma course in Archives Administration for francophone and anglophone countries in the Caribbean Region and Latin America as well as a Graduate programme in Archival Studies and Culture . In the 2006-2008 academic year, a Bachelors degree programme in Library, Archives and Information Studies Culture and Art was added to its range of academic programmes. The Department of Library and Archival Studies has assumed a new name: The Department of Information Studies, a move aimed at bringing the name of the department to fall in line with the new focus of its work in the Great Openning of Centre Culturel et des Arts of Queensland University (UQ) in 2010 after the quake on January 12, 2010 .

QUEENSLAND LANGUAGE INSTITUTE (QLI).

Queensland Language Institute (QLI) was founded in 1999 as an Institute for research in Language use in Creole, French, English, German, African Language, etc.., having the status of a department in the Faculty of Arts of Queensland University (UQ) . For the first ten years of its existence, it was supported by Queensland Foundation (QF), which funded the building of Delmas 33 devastated by the Earthquake of January 12, 2010. It later received Queensland Foundation support, especially for staff development. The focus of the Institute is on research and teaching related to the improvement of performance in the languages used in English, Spanish, German, as vectors of education, culture and community interaction - English, the official language, and various Haitian languages, French and Creole . And very soon Queensland University (UQ) was established International Cooperation with some International Community by creation of some research centers as :

Haitian Saudi Arabian Center for Exchange , Study and Cooperation (HASAECO).

The HASAECO of UQ has for mission to establish between Haiti and Saudi Arabia a programme of Exchange, study and cooperation with the Saudi Arabian Government and the Civil Organization of Saudi Arabian .

Norwegian Center for Exchange , Study and Cooperation (HANOESCO)

The HANOESCO of UQ has for purpose to establish between Haiti and Norway a Programme of Exchange, Culture, Study and Cooperation between Haitian Students and Norwegian Students.

Haitian South Korean Center for Exchange and Cooperation (HASKOCEC)

The HASKOCEC of UQ is there to create a way of exchange , study and cooperation between Haiti and South Korea in the domain of Education, Rural Development and Research.

Haitian British Commonwealth Center for Exchange , Study and Cooperation (HABCOMES)

The HABCOMES of Queensland University (UQ) has for objective to create a way of Collaboration between Haiti and the Commonwealth Universities and Commonwealth Countries in the domain of Exchange, Research Studies and Cooperation . We would like a day Haiti will integrate in the Commonwealth Countries as a New Member.

Haitian Swedish Center for Exchange , Study and Cooperation (HASCESCO).

The HASCESCO of Queensland University (UQ) has for mission to establish a fruitful collaboration with the Swedish Universities, Swedish Government and Civil Organizations of the Sweden in the domain of research, education , and rural development.

CENTRE FOR TROPICAL CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY AND THERAPEUTICS.

The Centre for Tropical Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics was established in the Queensland University (UQ) in January 2010 , after the earthquake on January 12, 2010 there many haitian handicapped persons in Port-au-Prince, Jacmel, Nippe, Leogane.. Medical School of UQ in 2010 with a small grant from Queensland Foundation (QF) the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) and in period of Earthquake. The grant was to increase research and training capabilities in Clinical Pharmacology, especially pharmacokinetics of antimalarial, antischistosomal and antifilarial drugs in the victims areas by the earthquake of January 2010. The grant period was from 2010-2013. The Centre has the status of a department in the Medical School of Faculty of Medicine and Medical Technology of Queensland University (UQ) . The principal activities of the Centre are directed towards achieving the institutional objectives of the Queensland University (UQ) Medical School.

HAITI CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS (HACIA) / CENTRE POUR LES AFFAIRES INTERNATIONALES D'HAITI (CAIHA).

The Haiti Centre for International Affairs, HACIA / Centre pour les Affaires Internationales d'Haiti (CAIHA) was established by the Queensland University and Christian Chamber of Commerce of Haiti (CCCH) in 2003. Its central purposes are:
  • The inter-disciplinary postgraduate academic training for qualified applicants and Foreign Service personnel in Haiti and abroad ;
  • The organisation of seminars, workshops, and short courses on specified subjects of current international interest in the rural and urban areas of Haiti and abroad ;
  • Research and publication in the areas of International Affairs, International Law and Practice. The Centre runs a 12-month course in International Affairs in collaboration with Christian Chamber of Commerce of Haiti (CCCH) and International Christian Chamber (ICC) leading to the award of an MA degree in accordance with the existing Queensland University Regulations.

THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC AND DANCE (SMD) AND QUEENSLAND FOOTBALL ACADEMY (QFA) OF UQ : The School of Music and Dance (SMD) was established at the Queensland University (UQ) and Institution Mixte Queensland (IMQ), Kindergarten, Elementary and High School in the 200-2001 academic year to serve as a focus for the development of materials and programmes in Haitian Music and Dance that meet the needs of scholars, research students and creative artists. It is intended and the Children of Kindergarten, Elementary and High School of UQ :

  • To provide a forum for international meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops and special events in Haitian music and dance, and Football for the children and youth ;
  • To serve as an Archival Documentation and study centre for Haitian Music and Dance;
  • To promote and coordinate research, creative and development projects in music and dance;
  • To prepare and publish monographs, source materials, bibliographies and an International Journal of Haitian Music and Dance, and to serve as a clearing house for information on events, artists, scholars and institutions concerned with the study and promotion of Haitian music and dance, after the aerthquake, we lost all the cultural vestiges in Haiti .

CENTRE FOR GENDER STUDIES AND ADVOCACY / CENTRE POUR LES ETUDES EN GENRE (CEGESA) : The Centre for Gender Studies and Advocacy (CEGESA) was established y the Board of Queensland University since 2005 , and was officially inaugurated on 17 July, 2010. The Centre is currently located at the Institute of Social Studies and Development which is hosting the Centre until it can move into its own facilities. The Centre has eight facl areas: Academic Planning and Curriculum development including the development of short courses, engendering existing courses and building capacity in curriculum development; upgrading the Resource Centre: policy planning; the development of mentoring programmes for junior faculty and students; the creation of a sexual assault crisis and counselling unit; the professional development of counsellors for the couselling unit; research, and outreach and extension work. After the hearthquake there are many violation on the women, youth and old women, the Centre is there to protect and conduct research on the conditions of life of the women under the tents.

CENTRE FOR MIGRATION AND IMMIGRATION STUDIES AND RESEARCH / CENTRE DE RECHERCHE ET D'ETUDES EN MIGRATION ET IMMIGRATION (CEMISRE):
The Centre for Migration and Immigration Studies and Research serves as a co-ordinating point for all stakeholders involved inteaching, research, advocacy and extension activities in migration and immigration in Haiti, within and outside the Queensland University(UQ). Its key objectives are: to co-ordinate past and current research activities on migration by Faculties, Departments, Institutes and Centres and schools ; undertake research activities on migration related issues from a multi-disciplinary appraoch; promote migration studies at the graduate level through a multi-policy on migration through the provision of relevant data on migration and related issues; collaborate with relevant institutions, departments and agencies working on migration and related issues; and build capacity through short-term training programmes in specific areas.After the quake there are many haitian migrated in Dominican Republic, USA, Canada , Europa, Africa and same Asia. The Centre is able to conduct studies in Migration and also in Immigration.

OTHER RESEARCH UNITS AND FACILITIES IN UQ

SEISMOLOGICAL OBSERVATORY CENTER (SOC) / CENTRE DE RECHERCHE D'ETUDES ET DE FORMATION GEOPHYSIQUE ET SISMOLOGIQUE (CREFOGES) / Higher School of Geology (HSG): The Higher School of Geology (HSG) / Ecole Superieure de Geologie (ESG) de l'Universite Queensland (UQ) will be installed seismological equipment in the University Department of Geology as part of a Telemetric Seismograph Network in the City of Hinche, Plateau Central , in the measure to detect a great faille in the Region of Baptist, Savannette until Cerca Cavajal . The main station at Hinche, Plateau Central is served by a number of smaller stations located in the City of Hinche, Cerca Lasource, Savanne a Lait, part of the City of Hinche,Plateau Central in general which transmit signals by radio waves. The network monitors seismic activities in the City of Hinche can cover the Great North, Cap-Haitien, Artibonite and Fort Liberte .

LIBRARY OF UQ FACILITIES: The UQ Library is the main library of the Queensland University (UQ) with a holding of about 2.500 volumes, including a notable section on French, English, Spanish, German, Portuguais, Creole, Italian, and about 1000 periodicals. Non-members of the University are allowed the use of the UQ Library. They may register as external borrowers. Departmental and Hall libraries supplement facilities available in the UQ Library. With the passage of the earthquake on January 12, 2010, we lost all materials and equipments. All our Books, materials and equipments are under the debris. Queensland University (UQ) seeks International Partners to help us to rebuild the UQ Library and we are ready also to receive books, materials and equipments as Ordinators, Laptops, and others you can help us.

CONSULTANCY AND EXTENSION SERVICES: Members of the Queensland University serve on committees and commissions set up by Non Profit Organization , private institutions, district and local bodies through-out the ten (10) departments of Haiti . Research work and projects of national interest are undertaken by departments, institutes and schools of the Queensland University. Through Inter-Faculty, Inaugural and Occasional Lectures as well as training seminars, workshops and publications, the University shares the fruits of research and knowledge with the people of Haiti and the Caribbean Region and with cultural institutions both within and outside Haiti . Through its extension services, the University participates in the life of the wider community and the practical affairs of society and keeps its teaching and research close to the real life of the society. In a more formal way, members of the University undertake consultancy for various public and private institutions as the Rector Eng -Agr Jean-Ernst Saint Fleur, Professor to the University of State of Haiti and he works also for AIEA ( Agence International de l'Energie Atomique ) . The Queensland University (UQ) itself also procures consultancy contracts for its faculties and departments. In order to formalize and enhance these consultancy and extension services, the University established a Consultancy Centre which seeks and executes them using the pool of expertise within the University. The Centre aims at enhancing the University technical contribution to national development, increasing its income-earning capacity, providing avenues for professional satisfaction for its staff and improving the practical flavour of teaching and research. The Centre now operates as a wing of the School of Research and Graduate Studies with emphasis on Contract Research.After the quake many international Organization demand Consultation for the start of rural and urban projects. For Example, Mr Timote Georges , Undergraduate of the Faculty of Agronomy and Environmental Sciences (FAES) of Queensland University (UQ) is Graduate of United Nations (UN) University For Peace (UPEACE) in Programme of Master in Natural Resources and Peace of University For Peace, San Jose, Costa Rica. Actually Mr. Timote George is Regional Director of Trees For The Future, an American NGO working in Haiti.Mr. Timote Georges is Professor at Faculty Agronomy and Environmental Sciences (FAES) of Queensland University (UQ) and he is Doctorate in a University of the United States of America.

REMOTE SENSING APPLICATIONS UNIT OF UQ : The Remote Sensing Applications Unit was established in 2008 as a self-accounting Unit in the Department of Geography and Resource Development of Queensland University (UQ) with a mandate to provide Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services and to assist research in land and water resources appraisal and monitoring, including rural and urban land use patterns and trends in Haiti . It will also support the teaching programmes of the environmental and resource based departments, namely geography and resource development, geology, botany, agriculture and physics, geophysics and so... The establishment of the Unit became necessary because of the establishment of a remote sensing applications laboratory and an ecological laboratory in the Department of Geography and Resource Development of UQ . The Laboratories were inaugurated onNovember 10, 2009 assisted by the Students , Professors and Staff of the School of Governance . The establishment of the laboratories was made possible through the generous assistance of the Queensland Foundation and Emmaus Haiti through the CREACLAC under a linkage arrangement between the Queensland University (UQ) and OADEPROPAH Haiti . The Ecological laboratory will be very soon equipped with modern facilities to undertake a large range of analysis including plant materials, soil conditions, water and sediments in the Region of Sapaterre, Hinche, Plateau Cen. The combination of a remote sensing laboratory and an ecological laboratory provides ideal facilities for multi-disciplinary approaches to resource and environmental problems which are bound to have far reaching implications not only for the quality and relevance of teaching and research in theQueensland University but also for the quest for the sustainable development of the resources of the Rural and Urban Areas of Haiti .

ECOLOGY LABORATORY CENTRE (ELC) OF THE FACULTY OF AGRONOMY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES (FAES) AND THE ECOLE REGIONALE POST-UNIVERSITAIRE D'AMENAGEMENT ET DE GESTION INTEGRES DES FORETS ET DE TERRITOIRES TROPICAUX (ERAIFT) OF QUEENSLAND UNIVERSITY (UQ): The Ecology Laboratory at the Queensland University, Hinche,Plateau Central and Port-au-Prince, Haiti was initiated in May 2010 after the quake of January 12, 2010 through Queensland University project to conduct studies and analysis in the domain of Ecology and Biodiversity. During the first project period, 2010‚ 2011-2014 , the Ecology Laboratory will be equipped with instruments for conducting chemical and physical analysis on soil, water and plant samples . The second project period, 2012-2016 will be intended to support teaching and interdisciplinary research programmes on nutrient cycling, ecology and biodiversity. This is reflected in the composition of membership of the Centre Advisory Board and Technical Committee, to represent a wide range of Departments. The Centre is aimed, among others, at supporting interdisciplinary research activities, to facilitate necessary field research for researchers and PhD students; to encourage exchange of international scientists and technicians between Haiti and United States of America, Canada and the Caribbean Community; to conduct training courses on topics of interest to activities of Ecology Laboratory Centre and to organize seminars and workshops in the Rural and Urban Areas of Haiti specificly in the Region of Plateau Central,on the River of Peligre . The Ecology Laboratory Centre will be located in the building housing the Ecology Laboratory at the Department of Geography and Resource Development in the City of Hinche, Plateau Central and other region of Plateau Central areas of Cerca Lasource and Savanne a Lait of Plateau Central.

CENTRE FOR SOCIAL POLICY STUDIES (CSPS) AND CENTRE DE REFLEXION, D'ETUDES ET D'ANALYSES POLITIQUES ET SOCIALES DE LACARAIBE (CREAPOS) : The establishment of the CSPS and CREAPOS in June , 2005 has been initiated primarily to develop and improve social welfare services in the rural and urban areas of Haiti . It is intended to fill a need for social welfare policy research in Haiti . The challenge is to provide a forum that can play a co-ordinating role for the establishment of social development network and political studies and analysis and at the same time to involve the general public in the process of social welfare policy development. The Centres, which are sponsored by a small grant of Queensland Foundation, aims at creating greater awareness on social welfare policy issues in Haiti and promoting participatory development of policies and social service programmes of action. In this respect, the Centre focuses on interdisciplinary projects that emerge from its own programmes as well as those of cognate departments, agencies, organisations and institutions. Specifically, policy areas to be covered through the Centre programmes and activities are: the development of the child; poverty, nutrition and household dynamics; family welfare; health; gender issues; ageing; community participation/community welfare; labour issues; environmental issues; population and development. Because of its coordinating role, the Centre serves as a Documentation and Information centre on social welfare policy for students, researchers, policy makers and professionals in the social service field. The centre has a specialised library of reference materials not available elsewhere on two (2)campuses of Queensland University (UQ) and produces a Social Policy handbook which covers a wide range of policy issues, carrying both information and programme experiences for all ten (10) Departments of Haiti .

THE QUEENSLAND VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY (QVU) : Queensland University (UQ) after the quake sees the importance to begin with a Distance Education Project which has been in existence for more than two decades in the USA in Collaboration with the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) , Washington DC, United States of America, and some parts of Europe by the Centre Caraibeen pour les Relations avec l'Europe (CECARE) / Centro Caribeno para las Relaciones con Europa (CECARE) , involving the use of satellite communication and other communication technologies such as Video, Internet, Email protocols to beam lectures either in real time or in recorded form from universities in the USA and Europe to Asia unti Africa Continent . The advantages derived from the QVU project is the provision of more cost-effective mass education through the sharing of the highest quality academic faculty, library resources and laboratory experience in two campuses of UQ . In this way the project has the potential to overcome lack of facilities that prevent increased access to higher education for a significant number of students in Haiti . The Queensland University (UQ) is among the one of Caribbean countries in Latin America and the Caraibe , made of one Anglophone and Francophone haitian universities, that have been selected to take part in QVU starting from October 11,2010 when the protocol establishment the linkage arrangement was given the nod by the Academic Board of Queensland University (UQ) in Haiti.
